In our search for something special, Yvan put us on the trail of a very rare Swiss army fabric from the 1960s. He put us in touch with Carol, who creates bags and accessories from old army fabrics, and we decided to buy the unique fabric to develop our Swiss+ project.

The pepper and salt fabric was developed in the late 1930s by the Swiss Army on a cotton basis. As cotton became scarce during the war years, nettle fibers were combined with cotton. This mixture created a very robust, water-repellent and durable fabric, the basic requirement for producing the world-famous Swiss military backpack.

In our search for the perfect ambassador for this project, we quickly realized that there could be no one better than Ruedi, who founded the SwissJeans Freak Blog years ago with great dedication and passion. After a phone call, we agreed and took the first pictures of the prototype in the Chipperfield Kunsthaus in Zurich and in the Vitra Museum in Weil am Rhein.

Great shoes, classy and rustic at the same time.
The look is unique and stands out clearly from other brands.
They are surprisingly light. That was quite a surprise.
The fit is very generous. I'm a 45 guy but these fit perfectly in size 44.
I am particularly relieved about the good fit on the heel; nothing slips here.
