Sandmanncraft Quartermaster Swiss+
In our search for something special, we came across a very rare Swiss army fabric from the 1960s through Yvan. He brought us together with Carol, who develops bags and accessories from old army fabrics, and we decided to buy the unique fabric to develop our Swiss+ project.
The pepper and salt fabric was developed in the late 1930s by the Swiss Army on a cotton basis. As cotton became scarce during the war years, stinging nettle fibers were combined with cotton. This mixture created a very robust, water-repellent and durable fabric, the basic prerequisite for producing the world-famous Swiss military rucksack.
Each limited edition shoe is numbered and limited to 365 pairs. Our oil-tanned leather is hand-picked and masterfully tanned. Only the finest hides are used for the Limited Series. The result speaks for itself.
In our search for the perfect ambassador for this project, we quickly realized that there could be none better than Ruedi, who founded the SwissJeans Freak blog years ago with great dedication and passion. After a phone call, we agreed and took the first pictures of the prototype at the Chipperfield Kunsthaus in Zurich and the Vitra Museum in Weil am Rhein.
